Press Release: The HealthFusion Team Challenge - Interprofessional Student Competition

The HealthFusion Team Challenge (HFTC) is an exciting and dynamic competition designed to educate tomorrow’s health care professionals in collaborative client care.

Inspired by a program at the University of British Columbia, the HealthFusion University of Queensland competition prepares students for today’s changing workplace by encouraging greater collaboration between health care professionals.

The National HealthFusion Team Challenge has soared to even greater heights in 2010 with a record ten teams turning out to compete in what has become Australia’s biggest interprofessional student competition. In each competition, teams are made up of outstanding students drawn from across the health sciences. Professions already involved include audiology, dietetics, dentistry, exercise physiology, medicine, midwifery, nursing, occupational therapy, pharmacy, physiotherapy, psychology, social work and speech pathology. Students from other health professions are encouraged to become part of the HFTC.

Working together over several weeks, the teams must develop a management plan which reflects best practice for a ‘real’ client with complex needs. To read the press release about this year's competition click here.
