New appointment at the Centre for IPE University of Toronto

The Centre for IPE is pleased to announce the appointment of Jennifer Macauley, Faculty Lead, Simulation at the Centre for Interprofessional Education (IPE), effective immediately.

Jennifer is a lecturer at the Bloomberg Faculty of Nursing. She joined the faculty in September 2010 after arriving in Toronto from Sydney, Australia. In Australia, Jennifer was a Registered Nurse, her clinical experience ranging from acute medical/surgical nursing to high dependency and intensive care nursing to palliative care. For the past 5 years, Jennifer has lectured at the University of Notre Dame in their undergraduate nursing program. Her specialty was in advanced acute medical/surgical nursing where she utilized high fidelity simulation as a primary teaching modality. Through her use of simulation in the acute medical/surgical course, Jennifer went on to influence the use of many types of simulation strategies being utilized across the nursing curriculum. Her passion is in using simulation in undergraduate programs to develop improved critical thinking and decision-making. In her experience, the benefits of employing simulation as a teaching strategy include enhanced communication, improved teamwork and clinical assessment skills, all of which support the use of simulation in an IPE curriculum.
