News from the EIPEN Project
EIPEN UK held a workshop on Quality Assurance in Interprofessional Learning on 12 September 2008 at King’s College London.
Invited participants came from Higher Education Institutions across the four UK countries; CAIPE; Skills for Health; the Quality Assurance Agency; the General Medical Council, General Teaching Council, Higher Education Academy, York; Subject Centres for Health Sciences and Practice, Medicine, Dentistry and Veterinary Medicine and Social Policy and Social Work; NHS Education Scotland.
The workshop built on two previous EIPEN workshops focusing on quality assuring interprofessional learning and had the specific aim of developing an outline document for the UK with the provision title ‘towards quality assuring interprofessional learning in the UK’, and informing the EIPEN Research Project.

The EIPEN Steering Group met in Ljubljana, Slovenia on September 25th and 26th. The meeting was followed by 2 days of workshops and presentations at the University of Ljubljana on the 29th and 30th September. Presenters came from Ljubljana, Sweden, Poland and the UK.
An EIPEN International workshop was held on October 23rd and 24th. This event was organized by Professor Andre Vyt and hosted by University of Gent, Belgium.
The theme was Good Practices and Challenges in Interprofessional Education and participants came from Finland, Malta, Belgium and the UK. Marion Helme (EIPEN Project Manager) and Helena Low (CAIPE) opened the two day event with an interactive IPL workshop. Marion also delivered a presentation on the EIPEN Project and its future activities, and Helena presented on the Challenges of IPE in the UK in relation to Policy and Practice. Presenters from Malta, Finland and other Belgian Universities described how they were taking forward IPE.
