Description

The West Michigan Interprofessional Education Steering Committee is proud to announce the fifth Annual Interprofessional Education and Practice Conference  at the Eberhard Center on Grand Valley State University’s downtown campus.

The title of this year’s Conference is Meeting the Goals of Better Health, Better Care, Decreased Costs: The Role of IPE & Collaborative Practice. The Conference’s plenary speakers are Sharon Decker, PhD, RN, ANEF, FAAN, Professor and Covenant Health System Endowed Chair in Simulation & Nursing Education, Lubbock TX; John Gilbert, CM, PhD, FCAHS, Principal and Professor Emeritus, College of Health Disciplines, University of British Columbia; and Joshua Tepper, MD, Vice President of Education, Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre, Toronto, Ontario.

The Conference will showcase interprofessional education and practice in healthcare reform, and in healthcare quality and efficiency, as well as strategies for implementing interprofessional collaborative practice.  The Conference objectives are:

  • Describe the role of interprofessional education and collaborative practice in healthcare reform.
  • Define the current challenges of meeting the triple aim of better health, better care, decreased costs.
  • Develop ways to promote interprofessional collaborative care in teams.

You are invited to submit abstracts for poster and paper presentations for the Conference, and you are invited to attend it as members, partners, and guests of the West Michigan Interprofessional Education Initiative.
