Dr Lesley Hughes

Lesley Hughes photoDr. Lesley Hughes, CPsychol, PhD, MA, BSc, RGN, Lesley is Senior Lecturer: Head of Interprofessional Education Faculty of Health and Social Care and the Hull York Medical School, University of Hull. 

Lesley qualified as a nurse before graduating in Psychology and completing a Masters Degree in Health Research for which she undertook pedagogic research at the University of Linkoping in Sweden exploring the effectiveness of a problem based approach to Interprofessional Education in undergraduate curriculum. Her publications on pedagogic approaches to IPE span 15 years of leading interprofessional education in three Higher Education Institutions, involving twelve health and social care disciplines. Her current role is setting the strategic direction for IPE where she works in partnership with Universities, NHS and 3rd sector Organisations in training staff, advising on pedagogy and identifying opportunities for IPE and collaborative practice.

Lesley is involved in a number of local, national and international committee’s; during the period of 1997-2000 she served as an Executive Board Member of CAIPE, and is currently a Co-opted Member of the Board, she sits on the Board for InterEd, and was a member of the WHO Study Group on Interprofessional Education and Collaborative Practice. She is a visiting lecturer at the University of Malta where she delivers a Masters module on integrated services, and following her PhD and research with children and families with emotional and behavioural problems she has become a Board Member of the European Network for Social and Emotional Competence.
